A decade ago, the hospital category was where the senior living category is today.  The public saw them as a commodity.  Increasing competition meant that the shrewd hospitals who learned how to turn themselves into a powerful brand, and got help from seasoned communications pros to do it, were going to be the ones who would break out of that commodity market and survive.  Unfortunately, most of them had no experience with marketing and got some less-than-expert group to throw some advertising together for them.  The result is what you see today; ads for hospitals that all look and sound the same.

ON THIS PAGE, YOU ARE LOOKING AT FOOTAGE FROM COMMERCIALS FOR 25 DIFFERENT HOSPITALS AROUND THE U.S. THEY ALL SAY THE SAME THINGS.  THEY ALL SHOW THE SAME THINGS.  YOU COULD CHANGE THE NAME AT THE END AND NO ONE WOULD EVEN NOTICE.  ULTIMATELY, ALL OF THIS ADVERTISING IS MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN.

Hospitals share a lot with senior living.  They have to manage many of the same emotional hot buttons.  They are dealing with quality of life.  They are dealing with continuationof life.

At The Observatory, we created some of the first memorable and impactful hospital advertising which has received great acclaim.  We’ve also done powerful work for non-profits which are also akin to you in terms of dealing with emotion and telling a story that makes a connection.  A sampling is attached here, along with a bit about The Observatory philosophy and mission.

We would show you advertising for senior living, but it hasn’t been done yet.

No one has taken the lead in your category in terms of branding.  Someone is going to, and soon.  We’re reaching out to you because we think you could be the one to do it. And we’d like to make your case study the one everyone will end up looking at and aspiring to in the senior living category.  We have some of the most talented creative communications people in the country and, in fact, the world.
